This week I have good news and bad news. Which would you like first? The good news? Okay here we go. The good news is that I have stayed on track with my excersise. I did Pilate's 3 times last week and this week I have walked the neighborhood. I have even taken my dog Shelby with me. Poor thing she is 12 years old and stays in a 6' by 6' area in the yard due to our invisible fence. Yesterday on my lunch break I bought her a new collar and matching leash. She was so excited when I got home and I put that collar on her. She knew we were going for a walk. It is a little difficult walking with her though because she has to "mark her territory" at every mailbox. I suppose she will get better at it the more we go. All in all I have really enjoyed my excersise. That is the key right?
So what's the bad news you ask? Well I stepped on the scale this morning in hopes that I would see a drop in my weight but it hasn't moved. I guess I should give thanks that it didn't go up. I guess I just set myself up for failure thinking "I have done this, this, and this. Surely I will see a change." Mom always tells me "Expect nothing and you will not be disappointed." Maybe my body has gotten use to my routine and the foods that I am eating and I just at a plateau. So this weeks goal is to change it up a little. I am going to intensify my work out and incorporate some different foods and hopefully the scale will tell a different story next week.

Sometimes when we are exercising more than usual, we're building muscle and it weighs more than fat. Be encouraged by what you did to improve your health, not by that nasty old scale. Check out the clothes you're wearing, maybe the fit is different.
Talking about exercise being fun, I went upstairs to walk on the treadmill, turned on the CMT channel and when my 30 minutes were up, I couldn't believe how quickly the time had gone.
Until next week, Live Well

I can't wait to get bike riding or walking outside this spring. It's freezing out here, but it sounds so wonderful to be walking with the dog.
One way to break a plateau if you aren't doing it already is to cut carbs for just a couple of days. Sometimes even a day can break a plateau. I tried it once and it worked!
It is great that you did not gain! That is a good thing. Muscle does weigh more so maybe you are building muscle! It will be good to switch it up some. Maybe that will help! Look forward to seeing next week.
Much love,
Angela
Go Karen, Go Karen, you can do it!! Don't get defeated!!! Just march your cute little patootie down that street!! And remember!!
"You can do all things through Christ, who gives you the strength."
Love you!!
I'm a bit jealous that you get to take walks this time of year! I guess I could too, but I'm too much of a wimp. It's just too cold and snowy! Anyway, you are doing great with the exercise! Keep it up, and you'll see the results.
Good for you, getting in your exercise and fresh air!! I SO miss that! (although I got both yesterday, hauling 8 loads of firewood into the basement!) My dog is jealous of your dog and the exercise she's getting....
You're right about probably needing to change things up a little. When I was with Weight Watchers, one of the things I learned was to vary my 'points' intake every day to keep my metabolism working harder. If we eat approximately the same amounts of carbs, proteins, fats, etc., our body kind of gets lulled into complacency. I used to have two days a week where all I ate was fruits and veggies and I never had trouble with plateauing. Hmmmm, maybe I should seriously think about going back!
I totally feel your disappointment. I love to have the reward of the scale going down for all the work put in.
It sounds like a good idea to change things up a bit, but maybe you should do that and just skip the scale next week. By doing so, maybe you'd take your focus off the goal of losing weight and onto your equally important goal of living well. Romans 12:1-2 is what I am using to keep focused on that end of things, and I'm slowly noticing a change in how I approach food, my weight, and the scale, too.
Blessings,
Elisa
Maintaining is a good thing! If you've been maintaining for a long time and still have more weight to lose, then shake up the routine a bit.
And I'm with everyone else...envying you and your dog walk outdoors!
Blessings,
